The Hinton Adult Learning Society (HELP) is proud to deliver the Government of Alberta’s Transition to Employment Services (TES) program, providing personalized employment services that help people prepare for, obtain, and maintain meaningful full-time employment. 

Whether you’re unemployed, underemployed, or facing a layoff, our experienced Employment Advisors are here to help every step of the way.

We Can Help You

Our Employment Advisors provide one-on-one support tailored to your individual goals, including:

  • Career planning and goal setting
  • Employment assessments
  • Resume and cover letter development
  • Interview preparation
  • Job search strategies
  • Direct connections to employers
  • Job matching and referrals
  • Ongoing coaching and encouragement
  • Support during your first 90 days of employment

Every participant receives an individualized Employment Service Plan designed around their unique skills, experience, interests, and employment goals.

Training & Employment Supports

Sometimes landing the right job requires a little extra support.

Eligible participants may receive assistance with:

Short Courses

Funding may be available for employment-related training such as:

  • First Aid
  • H2S Alive
  • WHMIS
  • Food Safety
  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Bookkeeping
  • Industry-specific certifications
  • Other short courses related to employment opportunities

Employment Readiness Supports

We may also be able to assist with employment-related expenses such as:

  • Work boots
  • Safety equipment
  • Hard hats
  • Police Information Checks
  • Driver abstracts
  • Other items required to begin employment

Supports are based on individual needs and must relate directly to employment opportunities.

Who Can Apply?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are 18 years of age or older
  • Are legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Live in Alberta
  • Are unemployed, underemployed, or facing an imminent layoff
  • Are ready, willing, and able to work
  • Have a realistic employment goal
