Hinton Adult Learning Society has a dedicated full time Homelessness Coordinator position, to assist our most vulnerable clients to meet their needs, as well as to ensure sustainable funding, create positive community collaborations and provide a voice from rural Alberta and Hinton on a Municipal, Provincial and National level. This position is supported by grant funding.
Our Homelessness Coordinator is able to provide support services to those experiencing homelessness, at risk of becoming homeless or those temporarily housed or “couch surfing”.

Our Homelessness Coordinator also works within the community to raise awareness of Homelessness and works diligently to develop supportive community collaborations to support this vulnerable population.
Freddy’s Homeless Resource Room opened in 2017 and is funded by donations, grants, and other revenue. Freddy’s is located in the H.E.L.P office from 8:30am to 3:30 pm and includes:
Access to referrals and resources
Hygiene products and essentials
Accessible washroom and shower
Washing machine and dryer
Computer use and access to the internet
Telephone and television access
Comfortable couches and chairs
Mail box and document storage are available
After meeting with the Homelessness Coordinator to review procedures, one can then schedule times for use.
